It’s tough to beat this peak, which delivers fantastic panoramas of the park’s remote corners in just 2.1 miles. While the first half of the hike is in the trees, the second half is on a lunar landscape with peaks and lakes in all directions. Trailhead: Look for the Avalanche Peak trailhead sign located near Eleanor Lake, between Fishing Bridge and the East Entrance on East Entrance Road. Hiking Avalanche Peak in July.

My wife and I will be visiting the park on July 13. Avalanche Peak is a 10,568 foot peak located in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming and is part of the Absaroka Range. We were planning on hiking to the summit of Avalanche Peak. Bighorn sheep, alpine birds, marmots, and pikas can often be seen on this peak. The trail does not contain many switchbacks, has some rocky footing, and the rapid ascent from the trailhead definitely gets the heart beating.
